Prófkjör … af hverju megum við ekki velja fólk frekar en flokka?

Mikið af spennandi fólki að bætast í prófkjörsslag þessa dagana … en því miður mikið af algerlega óhæfum populistum inn á milli.  Af hverju þarf ég í kosningunum í vor að velja á milli þess að kjósa Mörð Árnason, Ástu Möller, Jón Bjarnason eða Birki Jón?  Þessar óhæfur koma svo líklega í veg fyrir að ég geti kosið gott fólk eins og Guðmund Steingríms, Steingrím Joð, Pétur Blöndal og …. æj ég gafst upp á að finna Framsóknarmann sem gæti fengið mig til að kjósa þann flokk.  Þó ég sé ekki sammála skoðunum allra þá finnst mér að á þingi eigi að vera fólk með hugsjónir og kjáran vilja til að verða þjóðinni til góðs …  en ekki flokkssleikjur og frasabelgir!

Skerum upp kerfið!

Stöðugt áreiti og safnanir síðustu vikna til styrktar bágstöddum hafa vakið mig til umhugsunar um íslenska velferðarkerfið.  Er hugsanlegt að við séum í algeru rugli með þetta?   Mér finnst ótrúlegt að öllum þessum trilljörðum sé eytt í velferðarkerfi og svo þurfa e-r sjálfboðaliðar að standa í að hlaupa yfir hálendið, skríða eftir hafsbotni og vera með almenn fíflalæti til að safna peningum til að langveik börn, fatlaðir og geðveikir eigi séns á að lifa lífinu með smá virðingu?  Á sama tíma væla millistéttahópar yfir því að fá ekki vaxtabætur vegna þeir hafi gert ráð fyrir þeim þegar þeir keyptu einbýlishús í uppsveiflunni??? Eruð þið að grínast??  Ég legg til að e-r refactori kerfið þannig að það þjóni sem alvöru öryggisnet fyrir þá hafa ekki tök á að taka þátt í kapphlaupinu!

Sad day for Iceland

This morning the plug was put in one of Iceland’s glacier rivers, starting a process which will drown huge amounts of land, damaging the Icelandic wilderness forever! This is done in the name of pride of a government refusing to listen to common sense and hanging onto arguments like “This has already been decied so we can’t change our decision”.  The plug has been put in but the irreversible damage will mostly happen next spring when winter snow starts to melt on the glaciers, filling the water repository for the Karahnukar dam.

IPaq amazing flaw by design or … ?

Maybe this is my fuck-up … but my IPaq just ran out of battery as I have left it unattended for 2 weeks …. and I lost everything I had installed and was storing on the device! All my documents which I hadn’t bothered to sync with my desktop and (semi) important application data (my golf scores for the whole summer) are gone! Is this by design or ….???

Great day for golf

Strange weather in Reykjavik yesterday, sunny, still and 20°C set the stage for one strange round of golf.  Played with team “Brassarnir” and won my opponent 5/4 after shooting 4 birdies in the first 9 holes.  Ended up with 39 points which got my handicap below 4.5 …. for the first time.  Still today Reykjavik boasts a staggering 20°C  …. but I am somehow at ease with not golfing today after having reached my golf target for this summer … a month early.

Missing lines in web.config when consuming a webService with Atlas

When starting to use newly created Atlas features in .Net it took me a while to figure out error messages resulting from the Atlas examples when I used them in a real-life application (vs. in an Visual Studio Atlas Web Site).  The error message states that the web service reference has not been defined.

requestSimpleService = Quickstart.Samples.SimpleService.EchoString(
    "SomeText",     //params
    OnComplete,     //Complete event
    OnTimeout       //Timeout event

 … would result in the error message "'Quickstart' not defined" even though correctly declared in the ScriptManager.

At first i thought this had something to do with the order in which the <Atlas:ScriptManager/> is parsed relating to the JavaScript utilizing the service, but found out that there was some config info missing from the web.config.

 Didn't find too much information guiding me on this one but there must be a lot of people running into this one as the error messages are a bit confusing.  To check if this might be the problem, visit the web service you are trying to consume and ad "/js" in the path trail (e.g  "http://myserver.com/myService.asmx/js") and the response should list the Atlas generated script used to access the service when declared inside the <Atlas:ScriptManager/> tag.

… og Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn landaði 7 … veit ekki hvort ég var bara syfjaður um miðnætti í gærkvöldi þegar VilliV mætti til kosningavöku sinnar, en mér fannst örlítill hroki og harka gæjast undan sauðagærunni(?).  Getur það verið að flett verði ofan af plottinu seinna í dag?  Annars voru líka áhugaverð viðbrögð Stefáns Jóns þegar hann var spurður út í leiðtogahæfni Dags í þessari kosningabaráttu.  Getur verið að uppgjör innan SF fylgi í kjölfarið? Annars var fínt að loksins sé verið að skipta um stjórn í borginni og ég held að nú komi kraftur í kvikindið!
